Life Lately

Here's your quarterly update on the boys because let's be real...that's about how often I TRULY update this blog!

- Loves to tell stories....usually these start with "When I was a little boy"...and grow as the tale is told. It's really cute and shows how creative he is!
- Sings all the time - songs he knows and ones he makes up!
- Remembers everything...seriously, if you said it a month ago, he remembers what you said and expects it!
- Knows how to count to 12
- Knows his ABC's
- Can draw lines, circles, and triangles like a champ
- Has finally adjusted to Preschool!!!!
- Has finally started to get along and want his baby brother to play with him!
- Cooper is still his best friend

- Can say Momma, Dada, Please, Cooper (Pooper), Up, Baba, a bunch of jibber jabber!
- Says "oooh" whenever he sees something he wants or is ready to eat!
- Loves to a tank! His favorites are blueberries, strawberries, broccoli, kale chips, turkey, chicken fingers, french fries, apples, pulled pork, beef...seriously the kid eats almost anything!
- Walking/running EVERYWHERE
- Climbs like a fool
- Pushes my buttons...on purpose...and its painfully funny & obnoxious all at the same time!
- Loves to cuddle in the morning before everyone else gets up
- A goofball! He loves to make you laugh!
- Has a smile that will melt your heart!
- Loves all things boys...especially dirt, the beach, all types of balls, and sticks...that boy LOVES his sticks!
- Loves Cooper
- Blows Kisses like a champ
- Gives kisses...and tries to bite you at the same time!
- Loves to mimic whatever big brother is doing
- Trying to snap
- Smacks his lips together constantly
- Loves to wrestle with his daddy and brother...he's all boy!
- Think we have a lefty! Kiddo does most everything with his left hand...throw, color, eat most of the time...fingers crossed it got passed down!

I'm sure they are doing MUCH more, but Momma brain leaves me at a loss quite often!

Daven is 3!

(A little late posting, but anything is better late than never!)

Happy birthday to our sweet big boy. It's so hard to believe three years ago we brought home our little red headed bundle of love. He's grown exponentially in this past year and is as smart as a whip...don't say something if you don't plan on keeping your promise; that boy remembers EVERYTHING! He's creative; we know where it's going when he starts with "when I was a little boy"...the tales grow bigger with time, but his creativity just keeps us in awe. He's perceptive, impatient, nurturing, thoughtful, rough, and very loud - he's the perfect combination of his parents. We butt heads only because we are SO much alike. Yes, he still snuggles up beside us to sleep, but we've concluded he will leave us soon enough so to relish in the time spent together. Plus, when he cups your face and says "don't worry mommy, we are hear for you"; it just melts your heart! He's in to all things boy - running, jumping, dirt, water, trucks, hunting, fishing...but he also love to love on his babies and make sure they are safe and secure.

We went to Legoland for his 3rd birthday...just Daven, Daddy, & Momma - it was wonderful to spend a full day with just our eldest. He was disappointed in his lack of height to ride roller coasters, but we promised we'd come back and conquer them all together. He did have fun and keeps telling us all about his "birfday".

Daven, we love you more than we could ever tell you. You are such a special little boy with big dreams and a full life ahead of you. You have the determination and spirit to do big things and we will always push you to live your glorious dreams. Happiest of birthdays to our big THREE year old!

New Year, New Post

What better way to attempt to get back in to the blogging world than the new year? Our 2014 was a beautiful one - lots of love, laughs, tears, zero ER trips (phew!), and two healthy, happy little boys!

2014, you were good to us and we can't thank you enough - now let's have an equally beautiful 2015 with more laughs, tears, and happy endings!

Now for resolutions...those firm decisions to do or not do something that we make every year...and subsequently break two weeks later! Instead, let's plan on thinking about how we can refocus ourselves and make the next 12 months even more memorable than 2014.

Grady Year in Review

12 Months!

Weight: 20 lbs. 9 oz.
Height: 31 1/4"
Head: 17 3/4"
New Skills:
  • I am a walking machine!
  • I love to mimic ANYTHING my older brother is doing…including the not so sweet stuff :)
  • I absolutely adore my big brother and really like to try and talk to him these days (he’s not all about it most of the time…we’re getting there)…I squat down and start talking to him right to his face…mom thinks it the cutest thing and big brother usually laughs after a little bit!
  • Speaking of squatting…I can do that too…its one of my favorite sitting positions!
  • I now love milk and drink it all.the.time…Mom has to buy two gallons of it now just to keep me happy!
  • I love music and start dancing (bending my knees) when it comes on…especially kid music (yay for mom…not)!
  • I love Cooper and he is usually the first person (yep, mom and dad consider him human) I want to see and cuddle with in the morning…he loves me…just doesn’t fully know it yet :)
  • I love to eat…like everything all the time. Eggs, blueberries, strawberries, crackers, pirates booty, and yogurt are a few of my favorites!
  • I love to explore and climb! Playing outside has become really fun because of how inquisitive I am! We take lots of walks these days so I can look and touch all things nature!
  • I’m not a huge fan of the swing…this works out well because big brother loves it and isn’t particularly fond of sharing it!
  • I’ve started to make the “vroom vroom” sound with cars
  • I love to smack my lips together
  • Still only have two teeth…looks like one of my top teeth are coming in…very slowly (my bottom two JUST fully came through…teething is a blast at our house)!
  • UPDATE: I have 2 1/2 teeth! That top tooth finally broke through, but is doing so VERY slowly...just one though...I'm a little lopsided
  • I LOVE my daddy…when I hear him or see him I get really excited and run for a big hug and cuddle…it melts his heart every time!
  • Speaking of cuddling, I’ve started to enjoy cuddling! Mom loves this because I’ve never been big cuddle bug - I usually roll around and then roll REALLY close to get a big squeeze! Unfortunately, we don’t last very long because I don’t sleep well when cuddling…I like to just lay awake cuddled up next to you.
  • I love to talk on the phone and am constantly trying to steal moms to talk to Elmo
  • I am comprehending so much more these days! I understand no, baba, directions, night night, hunger cues, etc. This has made life a little easier around these parts!
  • I can blow kisses and give awesome high fives!
  • I'm a goof ball and love to make you laugh
  • I love to give hugs, have started to give kisses when asked (occasionally), and have attempted to blow a kiss a couple of times
  • I know the sign for all done and wave my hands wildly in the air when I’m all done with my food
  • Mom and Dad have nicknamed me “the wrecking ball” because I run into everything and fall all the time - Dad says I’m just like him and don’t watch where I’m going - if I want to get somewhere I’m going to no matter what is in my way!
  • I can turn lights on and off
  • I'm sleeping through the night most nights!!
  • I love to dance
  • I am super mischievous - I love to get into everything I'm not supposed to - especially climbing! Mom has found me in precarious situations when she turned her back and she's usually scared out of her mind - in other words she can't leave me alone ever! I also love to pull out plugs and try to stick my fingers in the outlet...yep, I keep them on their toes!
  • I am now in a big boy car seat...but not sure I like it very much...Mom thinks I may prefer my carrier.

Up Up & Away! Grady's 1st Birthday!

This weekend we celebrated Grady's 1st birthday surrounded by our loving family. It was a wonderful time to laugh and talk with family members we rarely get to see. We went the vintage airplane route for G's 1st bday - the only one I do big until they are five! Thanks to the help of my talented mom and baby sister, the party was everything I wanted - one day the three of us will go into business! A big thank you to my sweet and selfless brother-in-law and gf who lovingly let us throw the shindig at their place AND build the most AWESOME cardboard paper airplanes to complete the party (see last picture)!

Happy Birthday Sweet Grady!

365 days ago you flew into our world one week earlier than expected. You have been one of the greatest blessings we could have asked God for and we are learning so much from you each and every day. You are a curious little fellow with a big smile and a cuddle that will make the world melt away. You are mischievous in the best of ways - always climbing, hiding, pulling on something your little hands are supposed to avoid - you've taught us to have cat like reflexes that will benefit us for the rest of our lives. You are a lover and love everyone you come in contact with - you make everyones day with your happy demeanor and giddy waves...although Cooper is still learning to love your constant hugs! Thank you for choosing us to be your parents and letting us get to relish in the glory that is you. Happy 1st birthday sweet Grady Alexander - may you always dream bigger than the world around you.

We love you to the moon,
Momma & Daddy
