Happy Anniversary!

In a world where the average length of a marriage is a mere 7 years and "irreconcilable differences" is the most common lingo in most divorce filings, I'm so proud and happy to wish two of the finest folks I know a very happy 28th +1 day Anniversary!

Mom and Dad, thank you for being such beautiful roles models to us and showing us that marriage is like a good bottle of only gets better with time! We love you so much and wish you many more years of wedded bliss!!

2012 Olympics

A baby's first year is one of many milestones- holidays, talking, walking, etc. However, not many little ones can check off experiencing the Olympics before their 1st birthday. Although he was asleep before it started, Daven proudly sported his Olympic shirt in preparation for the great event and to check another milestone off his list.

Dear D,

This week has been one for the books (more on that later), but when I look down and see your content self laughing, talking, and smiling during our morning run I am quickly reminded how much you mean to me and to cherish every moment- good or bad, laughing or crying - that we get together.

P.S. I Love You

To Sleep or Not To Sleep...

Is it really a question?! We've embarked on the 6 month mark with baby D. With this new milestone came teething, rolling, tantrum's, and reverting to 2 month old sleeping habits. To say I'm tired is an understatement...I'm living in a state of exhuastion! But, alas, I never needed much sleep in College so I've been treating lil D like pulling an all nighter for a big exam - no sleep and LOTS of coffee!

If you ask any mother on getting your baby to sleep thru the night, each has a different opinion. Some have tried the Ferber method (cry it out with soothing every 5, 10, 15 minutes as needed), the Weissbluth method(cry it out with no soothing), or our current method, rock, and rock, and rock until that lil Dude is sound asleep. We've tried it all - and he break's me down every time...until today.

After two weeks of 12am, 2am, 4am, and 6am visits by baby D, I've reached my limit - momma needs her beauty rest! Over the next two weeks, lil D will be on a much stricter schedule...of sorts. There will be lots of tears (I have a feeling on both accounts), lots of screaming, and I'm sure some rocking (I can't stop completely!), but hopefully after these next two L-O-N-G weeks, Daven will be sleeping through the night.

Do not fear, we will be back....hopefully a little more awake and a lot less sleepy! Until then, here are some pictures for your viewing pleasure :)

P.S. - D's stat's have been updated from his 6 month check up! Click back to the 6 month's post for the update!
I just love these two!

Helping with Laundry - he really enjoys this new game :)

The Ice Cream Man

Remember when you were little and you'd hear the ice cream truck theme song cascading through the air, quietly calling out to you, "I'm coming down your street to share with you a very tasty treat!" Remember, begging your parents for a $1 just so you could get a rocket pop, snow cone, or ice cream sandwich to finish off a day full of playing in the sun? Well, Daven didn't have to beg...and probably never will because the big kid in Nathan and I came out when we heard the ice cream truck making its way down our street.
Money in hand, we introduced Daven to the ice cream woman at the ripe old age of 6 months. He was intrigued and I was excited to have a childhood favorite treat! Daven is just like his momma, he loved his rocket pop! He loved it so much that he cried when I took it away...7pm + sugar = one wide awake baby!

Run Baby Run!

As most of you know, I've grown to love the blogging community. It's amazing how many crafty, kind, and inspirational people I've "met" via the blogosphere. Well, thanks to one of the fabulous bloggers that I follow, Laurie over at The (Mis)Adventures of a Jogging Stroller Mom and every past English teacher I encountered in  my school years, I WON a pair of Mizuno running shoes! Can't you just taste my shear excitement?! Unlike most girls, Diamonds aren't the way to my heart...bright, crazy, fabulous running shoes are! Plus, I got to pick whichever pair I wanted! These suckers aren't cheap, so I felt like I won the lottery!

Aren't they just fabulous?! Bright and obnoxious just like I like em!

So how did I win these beauty's? Mizuno has created a campaign called the Mezamashii project, which, in Japanese, Mezamashii means "brilliant". Instead of spending thousands of dollars on advertising, Mizuno selected thousands of runners from around the Country to try a pair of their shoes...for free. In addition, those selected got to choose an additional recipient...insert me. Laurie got creative and decided to giveaway her extra pair. In order to qualify you had to write a haiku about what you considered your most brilliant run. Thanks to all my English teachers for enstilling a love of English in me...I actually remembered the 5-7-5 syllable Japanese poem style! I have lots of "mezamashii" runs so where was I to begin? After much thought and constant syllable counting, I came up with this:

Calm Blue Ocean Waves
Running While The World Sleeps
Sand Beneath My Feet

The thing is, I've never won a giveaway of any sort-sad I know. I have tried numerous times, but alas my dreams of winning a $250 gift card to homegoods or $100 to home depot never come to fruition. Well, I guess God decided I'd been patient long enough and blessed me with this win! I've needed a new pair of running shoes for quite some time, but with being on a much stricter budget, I wouldn't allow myself to purchase a new pair...I had two perfectly good semi-used pairs in the closet! These babies will be on my front porch next week and I can't wait to break them in at the beach with D! Big thanks to Laurie and her sweet kiddos for selecting my haiku and bigger thanks to the big man upstairs for blessing me with new kicks!

Splish Splash!

Daven is officially sitting up by himself! Although it doesn't last for too long, this new discovery is allowing him to see and experience the world from a new perspective. This weekend we invested in a cheap kiddie pool to give D the freedom to splash to his little hearts desire...without being splashed by Cooper in the big pool!

We were able to spend a lovely evening galavanting on the beach with Wil, Laura, and sweet Wyatt in Longboat Key. Thanks for sharing your last vacay sunset with us! We love y'all and can't wait to see many more sunsets together in August!

P.S. Isn't Wyatt the cutest blonde hair blue eyed munchkin ever?! Can't wait for D to be splashing in the tide pools with his cousin!

"Cleaning and scrubbing can wait til tomorrow, for babies grow up, we've learned to our sorrow. So settle down cobwebs, dust go to sleep. I'm rocking my baby, and babies don't keep."

Snuggles always take precedent at our house...and it makes for a nice excuse to nap!

Baby You're A Firework

Happy Fourth of July! May your celebrations be fun, safe, and full of fire fueled colors glistening in the sky!

P.S. Daven LOVED the neighborhood fireworks...Cooper thought otherwise!

Just Because...

He's so darn cute!

Mr. Inquisitive

Tiny hands grabbing, Little eyes looking, watching, studying. Mouth opening, shutting, opening again- sometimes mimicking and sometimes tasting the object in hand. It's quite mesmerizing to watch Mr. inquisitive take in the world around him. With his eyes fixed firmly on the subject at hand, he is eating up every morsel!

We've reached the mimicking stage in D's young life. Certain sounds he's picking up as we make them and trying to copy our mouth movements- its very comical! He's figured out a few like uh oh and ooh (high to low pitch). He also copies us with his toys. When we spin it, he spins it!

We've also started to hear a little gibberish and of course, he likes to communicate with us non-stop! We knew we had a talker on our hands when he discovered his voice very early on, but someone won't nap unless mommy is there to talk first!
