Oops, this didn't post last week...better late than never!
My Dearest Husband,
Happy Anniversary! You are truly a rarity and I thank the good Lord above that he chose you for me. We've accomplished a lot in four years...one move, our first home, our first four-legged child, two kiddies (alright so we're patiently awaiting the birth of #2, but still...), new jobs, and endless memories. You are an amazing man, husband, and father who enriches our lives each and every day.
Thank you for making this marriage feel so effortless for the last 4 years - your commitment to me and our family is undeniable and it truly feels like we've been married for a lot longer! I am an extremely lucky woman to call you my husband!
Since we left Georgia back in September, Daven has been asking to go fishing with Daddy and Pop-Pop (my dad). In keeping with the quality time with D theme, we fulfilled part of his wish by taking him fishing with Daddy. He loved every minute of it...even after breaking his rod! Dad, D did not forget that he wanted to fish with you and I know he will remind you of your special fishing trip come November!
Thus, D is getting a kids rod for Christmas so he can share his Dad and Grand-Dad's love for casting and catching!
With the oncoming arrival of Grady, we've been trying to spend as much quality time with D as possible. This means doing one thing he wants to do a day. Whether it's as simple as going to the park or finding "moo-moo's", I'm trying to make these last couple of weeks as much fun as possible. Obviously he doesn't have a clue why we are doing all of these fun things, but we know we won't be able to do half of this once little bits is here for at least three months.
The sweetest part? EACH adventure he has asked for his "brover" (brother) to join him...I think he's ready for a 24/7 playdate...maybe just wishful thinking but I'm running with it!
From a train ride to playing at the Farmer's Market, I'd say this little boy is quite spoiled!
After having his haircut this weekend, we took a family outing to the Fruitville Grove for their annual Octoberfest! It was just the right size and D loved looking at all the animals and driving the tractor! With his little brother due in three weeks, we are definitely trying to get as much quality time in with our big boy as possible!
Well the day has finally come! Daven finally got his first official haircut. For those of you who remember my haircutting debacle then you remember his dumb and dumber Loyd cut that I accidentally gave him. It was bad...VERY bad! After 10 months of letting it grow out, we decided it was time to cut off all those curly red locks, plus we knew we wouldn't have time once Grady arrived!
Daven was such a big boy and seemed to REALLY enjoy the haircut...he looked quite lulled by the clippers many a time! The nice discovery is his hair does have a wave to it, so we may not have lost the curls completely!
Momma's getting used to his hair being gone, but he loves his new do and the fact that he looks like Daddy!
Woo Hoo - we are almost there! We've reached the 9 month point so technically we are full term, but ya know how babies go and they really take 10 months to incubate!
How far along: 36 Weeks! Size of baby: Honeydew!
Baby weight: +3 lbs. = 144 lbs. (+29 lbs. from pre-baby weight and + 24 from first weigh-in).
Showing?: Um if I weren't I'd say we had a problem... Maternity Clothes: Just jeans - I live in workout clothes so I was able to wear most of my closet throughout this pregnancy (thanks sis for donating your shorts to my prego cause)! I live for anything loose fitting these days so maxi dresses and PJ's are my go to outfits..yes PJ's are considered clothes at 9 months!
Stretch marks: Nope, but everything is starting to expand...
Movement: Oh yes! He's been a little more calm lately, but all is well. Unlike D who moved in a constant rolling pattern (we never saw or felt feet/hands), this little guy loves and I mean LOVES to jab me in the ribs or stick his foot out the side of belly. Although very uncomfortable, it is so cool! I love being able to feel the impression of his little foot!
Gender: Still a boy, but we have our final ultrasound next week to confirm...Nate and I just want to be sure! Belly button in/out: It's more flat than in or out :)
Morning sickness: Nada
Cravings: Nada - actually my appetite has pretty much gone to the wayside. Food is just hard these days because my stomach is so squished! Lots of little meals has been the best, but then I'm up at 2am starving!
Exercise: Um yeah...that's been a little more tough these days and mainly because D is a bug when it comes to walking. D is just not feeling the morning strolls and honestly, after 1/2 mile I'm not either! Grady just moves to the point where I'm like a slug inching its way home! Trying to get the energy to lift weights at the least, but I'm having a hard time doing anything productive right now...time for this baby to come!
Energy: Hah that's a good one! Like I said above, I'm finding it extremely difficult to be productive these days...the couch is just so inviting! I'm definitely in full nesting mode, but just not in cleaning mode. My "chores" take all week whereas I used to have Friday's free :)
What I miss: Sleep, energy, being able to move without looking like a beached whale, and running - man I'm really starting to miss running!
What I won't miss: Lack of energy, but then again will I ever get that back?!
What I'm looking forward to: The last ultrasound! It is so crazy that we are about to become a family of four! Although I'm loving these fleeting moments as a Mommy to one, Grady is about to get an eviction notice because this belly is wearing on me!
Best Moment: My lovely baby shower that our sweet friend Cori and Mardi threw for us - this baby is definitely loved! AND although this baby will rock his world, I really think D is ready to meet his little brother. Y'all all know my infatuation with strollers (we currently have four) and D keeps telling me he is ready for his little brother to be "home" so he can ride with him in the stroller! It's probably one of the cutest things I've ever witnessed! Plus, he hasn't gotten jealous of all the stuff for baby...he actually points at it and then points at my baby every time we get something - he is one smart cookie! Obviously we know it's going to be a hard transition, especially when he cant sit on my lap with Grady, but he's going to be such a great big brother...eventually! And as usual...D LOVES to get in on the photo shoot action!
This past weekend, my sweet friends Cori and Mardi threw us a wonderful baby shower for Grady! I know I say quite often how blessed we are, but really, we are SO blessed! Thank you ladies for such a wonderful and fun event...this baby is definitely loved and I can't wait for everyone to meet him!
Obviously Daven didn't want to take a family photo!
Hello Family and Friends! So sorry for the long hiatus - we've spent the week getting back into the swing of our so-called life after a fun-filled two week trek of the east coast for my best friend's wedding! We had such a wonderful time and are so thankful for our amazing families who opened up their homes to us both way during our travels - I often take for granted how blessed we are with the wonderful people in our lives!
Jennifer was a beautiful bride and it was a beautiful wedding! We are so blessed to have been able to spend it with her and partake in her big day! I couldn't be more happy for my best friend and her new husband...he's a keeper! We will definitely be planning another trip to Boone as it was by far one of the prettiest places I've seen and the people were so nice and laid back. All in all it was a wonderful wedding weekend!
This was Daven's third or fourth trip up the east coast....kind of crazy for an almost two year old! The kids a traveling fool! On top of that, Momma finally did something for herself and chopped off all that hair! It was quite a drastic change and D is still getting used to it not being as easily accessible, but it needed a change desperately!
We had a wonderful trip, but are very happy to be home to wait out the last month of this pregnancy before we become a family of four!
